Welcome to the Website of the First Advanced Summer School in Africa
The Advanced Training Course on the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection will take place under the auspices of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS), International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as the first of the biennial courses in the IUBMB Advanced Summer School in Africa
Location:
The course will be held in Hermanus, a seaside resort located approximately 100km from Cape Town. It is situated in very pleasant surroundings with a relaxed atmosphere and does not have any of the distractions typically associated with a big city. During free time, activities such as cycling, walking, swimming and whale-watching are highly recommended. The partially isolated environment will have the desired effect of fostering closer interaction amongst the participants and with the tutors.
